Classification Final

Teachers

What does the word, teacher, mean to you? For me, teachers can be divided into three groups. The three groups include teachers those who transmit traditions, give knowledge, and solve problems.

The first group of teachers is those who only transmit traditions. Their jobs are to teach students what is right or wrong, especially students’ behaviors and family morals. These teachers always have old-fashion concepts. They may prefer teaching students in military ways. Ms. Janet, my elementary school teacher, is an example of the category. I remember the first day in class. She set up a lot of incredible rules for us. For example, we couldn’t eat and drink in class and we also couldn’t go to the restroom during the class. When she asked questions, we couldn’t but answer “Yes” or “No.” She was the teacher that trained students as robots.

The second group is made by teachers those who only give knowledge. These teachers only pay much attention on teaching, giving good textbooks, and explaining lessons clearly. I remember I met so many teachers like that in junior high school. I don’t know the reason why they made classes so dull. Besides, they also liked to give tests to students all day long. I don’t think doing this can make me get higher grades in junior college entrance examination. Truly, it was a terrible memory for me till now. To me, teachers not only give knowledge but also employ the efficient, useful, and interesting methods to teach students.

The last group of teachers is those who solve students’ problems. It is the most important thing for teachers, but many teachers always ignore it. Solving students’ problems is not an easy job. Nowadays, teachers don’t know how to interact with students. In other words, teachers come to classes just for doing regular tasks. They seldom ask students “How are you today?” or “Do you catch up with instruction process?” They are careless about students. As a result, when students are under pressure, they aren’t willing to tell their teachers so that tragedies such as suicide and drug abuse can’t be prevented. Therefore, I prefer teachers who are willing to help solve students’ problems. I think it is the entire world to teachers.

Now, what does the word, teacher, mean to you? If you want to be a teacher, which duty will you carry out? In these three duties of the teachers, no matter which duty you will emphasize on, I think it is a big happiness for you if students regard you as their friends and trust you.
